In October 2013 I had the chance to visit Brazil for a business trip and learned at S2Publicom, Brazil’s leading PR agency, about Brazils state-of-the-art PR market.
A visit to my former colleagues at Weber Shandwick was a must. Actually, S2Publicom that is, Brazil’s leading PR agency that became part of the global Weber Shandwick family when joining IPG about 2 years ago.
Even though financial experts talk about risks in regards to emerging markets, such as Satyajit Das in his Article The Return of the Emerging Market Crisis, I strongly believe in the ability of these countries to surprise us now and in future in a very exciting positive way.
Co-Working Task Groups give clients immediate access to all services they need
Enjoying a warm welcome and Brazilian hospitality in the office, I was quickly introduced to the different teams working at S2Publicom in Sao Paulo. Surprisingly these teams were not build in practice groups, as I knew it from Weber Shandwick some years ago, but in co-working task groups giving every account immediate access to any service needed: PR, event, social media / programming, graphics/webdesign. A great advantage for clients.
I was furthermore surprised about the inhouse newsroom with a team of about 5 to 10 people screening anything that is going on in the media, preparing news radars for clients and using the information to enable the PR teams to develop their own daily media strategies keeping the magic word “newsworthiness” in mind.
Another highlight during my days in Brazil was certainly the invitation to join S2Publicom Rio de Janeiro during an event at Morro da Urca (the little brother next to Sugar Loaf) for their client Netflix. Excellent event management on-site and a breathtaking view that I will never forget.
Special thanks go to Zé Schiavoni, Founder and CEO of S2Publicom/Weber Shandwick Brazil, and his team for their outstanding hospitality. Muito obrigado, queridos amigos!
